Random Facts Friday (BAM!)

in keeping with my buddy Red, I am stealing Katie's meme and doing a Random Friday Facts...BUT, as Red pointed out, it should be Random Facts Friday, as not all of the facts are about Friday.....
So here you go:

1. the human head weighs 8 pounds. (well, not actually)
2. i often carry my back pack from home to work and back again without ever opening it. this could go on for days. the only thing i 'really' need it for is a standardized place to put my ID badge.
3. i recently discovered Edith Piaf on Pandora. i find her music pleasant to work by.
4. this halloween will be 4 years since i have had candy. and NO, chocolate chips in ice cream don't count.
5. the Chinese character that the Japanese use for Friday is the same one they use for Gold. and friday is usually pay day.
6. i love maps. i could have a room wall-papered with them and get lost for hours. days. i also have an incredibly keen sense of direction and rarely get lost, even in strange cities at night (trip home from OBX?)
7. RAN is one of my favourite movies ever.
8. i keep a picture of my Dziadziu (grandfather) on the wall near my desk. He's looking at the camera over his glasses. That picture has helped me get through some ridiculous times and sour moods. I miss him dearly (he's been gone 10+ years).
9. i don't understand why you can't buy glass front fridges for home use.
10. +1, me

is it only the 6th?

Lost: mojo
Last Seen: December, 2010
Area: Visions of Janathon
Reward: my everlasting thanks

A few nights ago i participated in #SFCFIT chat on Twitter. It was great. Positive vibes all around, helpful fitness tips being tossed back and forth; collegiality. I loved it.
Annnnd I'm spent.
At work yesterday things just didn't seem to fall into place. I got through my projects, but found that I was playing Devil's Advocate much more often and with much more enthusiasm than was probably necessary. Not a good sign. So i tried to spend some time alone to regroup, but that didn't work, either. I became consumed with guilt that i was 'just sitting around' in the cafeteria. Little did anyone know the turmoil going on in my head. I have a history of keeping things inside, which i am working on not doing anymore, and i can feel myself slipping back into that mode. I don't like it there, but I am comfortable there. Does that make sense to anyone other than me?
So today is going to be a turn around day.
I will not wallow in troubles from the past.
I will not place high expectations on others.
I will focus on the positive in every situation.
I will allow myself some 'wiggle room'.
I will relocate my mojo and put it to good use.
I will spread positive energy into every situation I face today.

Seems reasonable, doesn't it? Matt Long, who many of you have read or heard about, is getting together a foundation to do something. Exactly what that is, I dunno. BUT....the website has a static display page on it right now that I have been trying hard to incorporate into my mantras lately. For quite a while it was the wallpaper on my computer at work. You can see it here: www.iwillfoundation.com .
As far as Janathon goes, I walked yesterday. I didn't run. I walked about 2 miles within the hospital. seriously. it is just about .25 miles from my office to the cafeteria. (and the ER, and medical services offices, etc.).
Today I will be bringing my TRX to work since my office mate doesn't work on Fridays. I will also be running after work. Or before. It is not even 430 now. I have been awake since 2.

Happy Friday!!!

Friday Fun

Did you expect to find the winner of the One Sweet Giveaway? Well, I HAVE chosen the winner, and an email and DM tweet was sent. I am waiting for them to get back to me before I post it here. That's how I roll.
In other news, I have been totally slacking off at work today. My officemate doesn't work on fridays (and apparently neither do I (ba-dum-bump), so I have been slack-a-lackin'.
I do have some fun things to share, though. Here's one:

Two Dads and two Sons enter a race. All of them win Age Group Awards, but there are only 3 trophies handed out. How is this possible? (answer in comments) (BEWARE!! A friend of mine who knows the answer said that she was going to put a in a spoiler comment.)

Here's another, though more thought provoking than the first:
A Cherokee elder told his son about the battle inside of us. He said 'The battle is between two "wolves" that live inside us. One is Unhappiness. Fear, worry, anger, jealousy, sorrow, self-pity, resentment, and inferiority. The other is Happiness. Joy, love, hope, serenity, kindness, generosity, truth, and compassion.......' "The grandson thought then asked, 'Which wolf wins?' "The old Cherokee said, 'The one you feed.'

Very True. Which one are YOU feeding? I tend to be very diplomatic and want all things to be equal umm, errr...feed small children to the Unhappiness side I mean...I am chucka-block full of anger, jealousy, resentment, and inferiority. But I am no longer leaving the bowl out for them, and they don't come around as often as they used to. WIN!

Finally: we have 3 cats. None of them like me, which is fine, except when the DO like me, which is either:
1) when they want to go outside in the morning
2) when i am sleepin on the couch and they want me to pet them
3) ok, number 2 is a lie. they only want me when they want to go outside.  Here is what happens later:

Check back later tonight or tomorrow for the announcement of the winner!

Was gonna be Fun Foto Friday.....

ok, i guess it still can be. here. har har har. check out the kiddo. he's the best part, IMHO.

but here's what REALLY has my goat this morning. are you ready? perhaps you have heard of this already. if so, i imagine that you are just as ticked off about it as I am. but then again, prolly not, as my emotional spectrum tends to only have extremes......
when i got to work tonight, a lovely email awaited me from Price Chopper, one of our supermarket conglomerates. i get them from time to time. no biggie. but today, i received this. Yep. Can you FLIPPING BELIEVE THIS????  I was so upset, I mockingly made a BUNCH of copies and left them in the breakroom at work. Most people got it, that I wasn't serious, but still. I MAY just go to Price Chopper on my way to Home Depot when i get out of work, just to see the 'show'. Dare I take photos? I got over my reaction to the coupon fairly quickly, as i tend NOT to dwell on things that upset me. (huh?) THEN, just when i thought it was safe to go back online I saw THIS on FB (well, not actually THIS, but it was an ad from this company...)......and I was once again taken aback. see that little obnoxious "F"? see belooooow it? YES! you can SIGN UP FOR A FREEEEEAAAAKKIN REMINDER.
why, oh WHY do you need a reminder?
let's examine the items in the FO-TO, shall we? suuuuure. It is Friday. Let's live on the edge. The donut appears to be Strawberry frosted. Nevermind the sprinkles; we ALL know that they have NO caloric value anyway. 230cal, 90 fat calories. 3g protein, 14g sugar, 330mg sodium. ok, fine. i expect that. now onto the beverage...i assumed LARGE iced coffee with cream and sugar. 250calories, 110 fat calories (?!), 3g protein, 35g sugar (???!!!???), 40mg sodium.
ho-lee crap-o-lee-o. just barely under 500 calories, and almost all of them 'empty' calories. let's say you indulge in the products featured in the advert. BAM! if you are trying to stay around 2000 calories per day, 25% have been sacrificed to the coffee and 'free' donut. not so free anymore, eh?
Happy Free Donut Day FRIIIIDAAAAAAAAY!!!!
