little jaunt

ran in wilder yesterday, 8 jun 09. did the Hazen trail, but went down some other trail first, and ended up linking to Hazen around Pluto. steeeeep hill up from the river, which pretty much trashed my thighs. decided to take it easy on the run, didn't time it.
as a note, it turns out that the 5k is measured from the parking lot at Montshire to PLUTO and back, not to where i start, so it looks like the length of my run is closer to 6k, which makes me feel better about the times.
later this week i intend to use car-pluto as warm up, then time the run from/to pluto to get a 'good' 5k time.

Day's total: 6k
Monthly total: 11k/100k

looking a bit BEHIND on my goal.

hurricane forest

ran along beacon hill loop at the hurricane forest. 5k run, mostly UP after a long, slight decline. not so rewarding clearing at the top, then a quick blast downhill. would do it again, maybe in the opposite direction.

distance: 5k
monthly goal 5k/100k (5%)

injured

two weeks ago, while slinging concrete, i popped something in my right hip, and it hurt. that pain went away, and i was able to run the runs listed here without ANY trouble.
then this past Sat, while in Boston, it popped again.
yesterday, it stiffened right up and i couldn't even lift the leg to get it up a stair step. i iced it, and took a bunch of motrin when i got home. this morningn it is much better. sore, but i have full ROM of my right leg.

oh, forgot to mention that around 5pm, as i was walking across the ICU, it popped again, and felt BETTER.

Distance: 5km
Time: 30:59
Monthly Goal: 16.3/50

it is about time

time to spare. time to run. time to be out there.
last night i took some.
ran along the AT, starting at the AT trailhead on Elm St. in Norwich, and turning around at the Happy Hill shelter. Took Riley with me, and we had a good run. A bit slower than I had figured, but all in all a good run in the woods. I will use it as my 10K trail run yardstick for 2009.

Distance: 11.3k (7m)
Time: 1:20:ish
Monthly Goal: 50k
