instead of Three, it will just be Thankful Thing Thursday...
Our house didn't burn down today.
Unfortunately, one of our 'daycare families' wasn't so fortunate. No one was home when fire consumed the "two stories plus a full attic" home in the Hartford/West Hartford/Norwich area. According to the Dad, "the tallest part of the house now is a portion of a wall from the first floor. We lost everything, and I mean everything."
Tragic.
My wife, upon hearing the news, immediately sprang to action, lining up people to help gather clothing and such for the kids. Everyone has been wonderful in their support. She'll be organizing a 'drive' of sorts soon, I am sure, once the family is able to wrap their heads around needs and such.
Have any of you ever faced such a tragedy? If so, what did you find to be the biggest 'help'?
